The recreational league is intended for those kids who want to enjoy the soccer experience here in Cochrane only. The recreational league will focus on skill development through both games and practices but scores are not recorded and no medals are awarded.
Recreational League U4 Players: At this age level only, teams are comprised of both boys and girls. Players can expect 2 outings per week, held on weeknights only. All practices/games will be held in Cochrane. Season runs from end of April until the tournament day in June.
Recreational League U6 and older: Players can expect 2 outings per week, 1 practice and 1 game, held on two regular weeknights. Some technical development will also be provided, however not every week, and they may be scheduled on Saturdays or additional weekday evenings. All practices/games will be held in Cochrane. The season runs from the end of April until the tournament day in June.
Day Preferences: For the Recreational league there are two options that CMS will try to accommodate: a Monday/Wednesday division and a Tuesday/Thursday division. Both of these divisions will play the 2 days of the week and on Saturday. For the U4 micro soccer, there are no Saturday games. CMS will make every effort to accommodate recreational players with respect to their preferred days of the week, but due to the vast numbers of players, this may not be possible in every case.
Equipment: Players must play and practice with soccer shin pads and appropriate footwear i.e., with non-metal cleats, to enhance player safety. Uniforms will be provided for all teams. At the end of the season, Recreational League players will keep their uniforms.
